Your privacy choices and rights
Turn tracking off, see what we hold, or have it deleted. Every request goes to a real person, and we apply these rights for every visitor regardless of where you live.

1. Turn tracking on or off right now
This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately. Switching a category off also deletes what it already stored in your browser, rather than merely stopping new collection.
You can reach the same dialog from the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the footer of any page on this site.
We recognize the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or an extension sends it, we switch analytics and visitor insights off automatically, we tell you on screen that we honored it, and we enforce it on our server as well as in your browser. You do not need to submit anything.
2. We do not sell or share your personal information
Some laws require a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link. We use the wording "Your Privacy Choices" instead, because there is nothing to disclaim: we do not sell personal information for money or other value, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. This site carries no advertising pixels.
The opt-out in section 1 still exists and still works. It covers analytics and profiling, which is what there actually is to opt out of.
3. What you can ask us for
- Know and access
- What personal information we hold about you, where we got it, why we have it, and who we have disclosed it to.
- Correct
- Fix anything inaccurate.
- Delete
- Erase what we hold, subject to narrow exceptions such as records we are legally required to keep.
- Portability
- Receive a copy in a portable, machine-readable format, or have it sent to someone else where that is technically feasible.
- Opt out
- Stop analytics, profiling and targeted advertising. Use section 1, or ask us and we will do it.
- Withdraw consent
- Where we rely on your consent, take it back at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it and costs you nothing.
- Restrict or object
- Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, restrict our processing or object to it where we rely on legitimate interests.
- No retaliation
- We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a worse experience for exercising any of these.
4. How to submit a request
Email privacy@simpleengineers.com with the word "Privacy Request" in the subject, or use our contact form and say the same in your message. Either reaches a person.
Tell us which right you are exercising and give us the email address you used with us, since that is normally the only way we can locate anything. If you are not sure whether we hold anything about you, ask and we will check.
Verification. We ask you to send the request from the email address we hold, or to confirm a detail from your original enquiry. We deliberately do not ask for a government ID or any new information to verify a request, because collecting more data to honor a privacy request is the wrong trade.
Authorized agents. Someone else may submit a request for you. We will ask for written proof that you authorized them, and we may separately confirm with you directly.

Requests are free. If a request were genuinely excessive or repetitive we may charge a reasonable fee or decline, and we would explain why in writing first.
5. If we say no, you can appeal
If we decline a request, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to appeal. To appeal, reply to that decision or email privacy@simpleengineers.com with "Appeal" in the subject.
A different person from the one who made the original decision reviews the appeal, and we respond within 45 days with the outcome and our reasoning. If we still decline, we will tell you how to contact your state attorney general.
You can also complain to a regulator at any point without going through us first: your state attorney general or the California Privacy Protection Agency in the US, your national data protection authority in the EU, the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland.
6. What we are likely to hold about you
Worth knowing before you ask, because for most visitors the answer is "nothing".
- If you have never submitted a form: we hold no identifying information about you. Analytics data is not linked to your name, and the visitor insights profile lives in your own browser rather than on our servers. Clearing your browser storage removes it, and so does the opt-out in section 1.
- If you submitted the contact form or an assessment tool: your name, email, and whichever of company, phone, role and message you provided, plus the assessment score and category and which tool produced them. It sits in our Slack and Discord notification channels and in our own records.
- If you applied for a job, or texted us: your application email and its attachments, or your phone number and the text you sent.
- Assessment answers: never. Those are scored in your browser and are not transmitted.
